Maastricht is an international city with a unique location in the heart of the Euregion, well connected by several motorways, excellent railway connections and nearby airports.

Maastricht is much more than a city steeped in history in the midst of a beautiful landscape. Thanks to innovative urban development projects and the presence of Maastricht University and many public knowledge institutions, Maastricht is developing into an international centre of knowledge with a vibrant arts and culture scene and a lively student community. This transformation is generating plenty of opportunities for property development and urban redevelopment projects, and for new knowledge, service and retail facilities. Maastricht is investing for example in:

  • further development of Brightlands Maastricht Health Campus, with opportunities for real estate development.
  • Together with the five other intercity cities of Limburg, Maastricht is committed to the ‘Limburg Centraal’ programme, which includes concrete plans for thousands of additional homes within a 1.5 km radius of intercity stations. In Maastricht, there is room for more than 7,000 new homes until 2040.
  • Continuation of the redevelopment of Belvédère and the Sphinxkwartier, where a qualitative mix of housing, retail, culture, leisure and creative industry has transformed the former factory site into a lively area, adjacent to the historic city centre.
  • redeveloping the Landbouwbelang complex as a link between the river Meuse and the historic city centre.
  • the provision of affordable housing thanks to the construction of new flats and studios in Geusseltpark. Located close to Geusselt sport park and various motorway entrance and exit roads.
  • redevelopment of the former Trega business park into a new residential area with space for 1,000 homes, green areas and small-scale businesses under the name ‘Limmel aan de Maas’.
  • accommodations for (international) students with a growth of around 600 student houses annually.

The above lists only a few of the opportunities Maastricht offers project developers and investors. For example, the arrival of ETpathfinder has given Maastricht a unique R&D infrastructure for developing the innovative precision technologies needed for the Einstein Telescope. Schedule an appointment or visit our stand during EXPO REAL. We are happy to tell you more about these and other opportunities in Maastricht.
